Remote Learning

Jeffco Schools will be closing all school facilities for in-person classes beginning Monday, March 16.  In response to school closures, we have developed a Remote Learning Implementation Plan to continue student learning during the building closure next week.  Additional details will be communicated to families through the School Messenger system and on our website below.

A crucial component of delivering instruction during the school closure will require students to be able to access instruction and learning digitally.  The technology tools to support learning in an online environment closely mirrors those tools currently being used by teachers and students on a daily basis at Deer Creek.

In order for students to access online learning, they will need their Chromebooks or other device for use at home, and access to the internet.  Google Classroom will continue to be the portal for all students to receive instruction for each of their classes.  Deer Creek will be open on Monday from 7:30am-3:00pm, for the purpose of students briefly entering to retrieve supplies and personal belongings from their lockers and for parents/guardians to pick up medications.

Monday, March 16 will be a planning day for teachers – there will be no in-person or online instruction that day.  Tuesday, March 17, students will begin their online learning, which will continue through the week.  Students will be expected to complete daily work online for each class through Google Classroom.  More details will be posted on Monday about expectations, attendance, and structures.  Also beginning Tuesday, no students, families, or community will be allowed access to the school building.

Deer Creek Middle School is committed to providing the best possible education to our students during this closure.  In the coming days and weeks, please continue to read updates on email and the website.  While we know there will be much more information coming to you during the closure, being prepared with technology will support the learning of our students within a remote learning environment.
